About us
Norton Rose Group has been active in Morocco and the North Africa region for more than 10 years, acting for domestic and international clients on a range of corporate and banking transactions. In 2011, we established an office in Casablanca to meet the growing needs of financial institutions and corporations for business law services in the North Africa and sub-Saharan francophone region.
We have a leading position in the Morocco market. In Legal 500 2011, we are the only firm to occupy the top ranking in the category of foreign firms active in Morocco. We are also top ranked by Chambers 2011 for General Business – Morocco.
Our Casablanca team specialises in corporate (including M&A), banking and finance, capital markets, real estate, and antitrust, competition and regulatory matters. The team also focuses on energy, infrastructure, technology and transport, all of which are areas of growth in the North Africa region and existing key strengths for Norton Rose Group.
Our team in Casablanca is headed by Alain Malek, a leading corporate partner, who is the head of Norton Rose Group’s francophone Africa practice. Alain Malek is the only lawyer ranked by Legal 500 as a “leading individual” in the category of foreign firms active in Morocco. Legal 500 comments: “Corporate finance partner Alain Malek ‘has excellent local knowledge’ and has handled some of the most complex, high-profile M&A transactions in the country.” Anne Lapierre, a corporate and banking partner, heads our energy practice in Morocco and North Africa.
